The
2008 Irving School
Academic Fair: Interests and Inquiries
was
held on Friday, April11
The third annual “Academic Fair:
Interests and Inquiries” drew a large crowd of participants and
visitors during the day and evening on Friday, April 11. More
than 50 students participated in the Fair.
April 11 was also the Third Annual
Irving School Egg Drop
Contest. More than 50 students designed vehicles that would
protect an egg as it fell from the second-floor landing (a 2 1/2 story
fall). Nearly the entire school came out to the blacktop to
watch and cheer on the eggs and their protectors. The Oak
Leaves newspaper produced a streaming video of the event, which you
can see by clicking here.
Thanks to all the students, parents,
staff and teachers who helped make this event possible. A
special thanks for Mr. Hodge for his support of both events and his
announcements during the egg drop, and to Ms. Kanavos for inspiring
the egg drop and evaluating the outcomes of each attempt during the
contest.
Although Irving
School's Fair is over for 2008, we're already making plans for 2009. We hope this website can help other schools as they plan
their own school fairs.

We prepared a Parent and Student Guide
to the 2008 Academic Fair, which is a shorter print version of the
information on this website. An Adobe Acrobat (pdf) version of
this year's Guide may be downloaded here:

The rest of this website covers the same
information that's in the handout, but in greater depth and with more
photos. By the way, if you want to see some photos of previous years'
